Workshops


The Russian research and production company Grasys manufactures units for production and separation of gas media. The company also implements EPCM contracts in the field of gas separation. Grasys offers equipment based on all three existing technologies of gas separation: membrane, adsorption and cryogenic ones.

Following workshops will be held by GRASYS Company:

It is offered two types of workshops:

Workshop (A): It will be held theoretically including subjects 1 and 2 of above table. Total cost to participate in this workshop is 600$.

Workshop (B): It will be held both theoretically and practically in Russia, including subjects 1, 2 and 3 of above table. Total cost of the workshop is 2200$ that will cover flight ticket fare from Iran and accommodation in Russia.

- Certificate of appreciation will be granted to participants on behalf of the GRASYS Company and University of Tehran.

Workshop (A): Design of Small Commercial Reverse Osmosis Desalination Units: Challenges and Techniques

Objectives:

This workshop presents conceptual designing methods of RO units with manual calculations and ROSA software to the audience. The special focus is on the designing of small RO units.

Who should attend:

This workshop is recommended for everyone who operates, maintains, oversees, designs, installs or commissions an RO unit. This includes operators, maintenance personnel, engineers, designers, supervisors and managers.

Duration: 4 hours

The program:

  • RO Design methodology
  • Membrane element selection
  • Simulation of designed unit with software; Case study: ROSA software
  • Design challenges with small commercial units and the techniques to overcome the problem

Total cost to participate:

Workshop registration fee is 3,000,000 Rials for Iranian and 100 € for foreign participants. It includes 50% off for students only.

Workshop (B): Main Troubles in Reverse Osmosis Desalination Units

Objectives:

This seminar presents the most common problems of RO systems to the participants. Problem detecting causes and correcting actions along with the prevention methods are the main subjects.

Who should attend:

This workshop is recommended for everyone who operates, maintains, oversees, designs, installs or commissions an RO unit. This includes operators, maintenance personnel, engineers, designers, supervisors and managers.

Duration: 4 hours

The program:

  • RO Fouling
  • RO unit performance characteristics
  • Data gathering and normalization in the RO units
  • Main problems in RO units: Symptoms, Causes, Corrective actions
  • RO preventive maintenance

Topic: Introduction to CFD Modeling of Membrane Modules

Objectives:

The workshop explains about Computational Fluid Dynamics, its benefits, limitations and applications in membrane modeling. Different available commercial and open source software packages will be introduced with focus on membrane module modeling using open source tools.

Who should attend:

This workshop is recommended for everyone who is interested in membrane modeling with modern, powerful, open source programs for better design to get optimum hydrodynamics and mass transfer. This includes research and development teams, engineers, designers, supervisors and managers.

Duration: 4 hours

The program:

  • Introduction to CFD, capabilities and limitations
  • Available CFD packages
  • Advantages and limitations of CFD packages
  • Online demonstration:

- Simulation of membrane hydrodynamics using OpenFOAM®

- Simulation of membrane including trans-membrane fluxes (membraneFoam)

Topic: Membrane Humidifying Unit and Its Application in Polymer Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell

The special focus is on the designing of a membrane humidifying unit integrated into an especial fuel cell stack.

This includes researchers, designers, engineers, operators, maintenance personnel, supervisors, managers and also it will be much fruitful for university professors and students who are seeking for an attractive field of interest.
